No matter which installation we choose - push or offline - we always get the same error:ĭer Dienst "VPRemote Install Bootstrap Service" ist als interaktiver Dienst gekennzeichnet. So, simple installation of the client on win10 (from the supplier) is impossible. Now, I use Sophos. We have here a very serious problem with Win10 Pro and SEP client. I finally told them that their constant stream of emails demanding yet more logfiles constituted harassment, and I blocked them at my email gateway for extra protection. At which point they made it clear that they intended to keep me jumping through hoops indefinitely. I spent a least than eight hours doing the bidding of the Symantec's support folks, but when it became apparent that they couldn't solve the problem I tried to close the support case as "problem not solved". Technical support whose philosophy is apparently "Make the customer suffer enough and they will never complain again." The SEP client grabbing every available CPU core without warning, even when there are no scans or updates scheduled. The only way for me to get through a scan was to limit the scans to known file types.

Total system lockups during every comprehensive system scan. All was well until I upgraded to version 14, at which point everything pretty much went to hell.Įxperiences that I have had with the new version of SEP: Customers support was prompt and professional, and even after I fled the IT profession to preserve my sanity I kept SEP running on my own home computers. At the time, I found it to offer the best balance of effectiveness and efficiency. Overall: For quite a few years I had Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) deployed across servers and workstations in multiple offices. And a lot depends on what your organization is looking for and what overall security posture of your organization looks like. I would personally recommend you to consider all these products before you go ahead and just purchase Semantic. However, with time there have been some products like that have come in and have become a market leader. So Symantec Endpoint Protection has been a great tool for the environment that I have worked in. It was not at all problematic because it never messed up with our work and it never made any performance issues on our machines. Additionally, it was from the endpoint users perspective. The endpoint agents communicated pretty well with the Symantec server and the server had capabilities for the administrators to go ahead and look at the different logs. All it needed was a server and the endpoint agents, which could be very easily deployed across the entire environment using the SCCM server. It was pretty much easy to implement Symantec Endpoint Protection. So overall, the ability of the applications to get us the needed information as a Security Engineer was amazing. At the same time, they are very well integrated into Splunk, which is our SIM. All the applications are very well connected to each other. And it's very well-integrated environment. The biggest reason of choosing Symantec Endpoint Protection was its wide range of applications across the Symantec Suite. In addition, the overall protection plan offered by Symantec works much into our budget in comparison with that at McAfee. The entire suite made us choose Symantec Endpoint Protection over McAfee. But the wide range of Semantic Suite of applications which spread across the Endpoint Protection Software, the Data Leakage Prevention Software, the Cloud Access Security Broker, and whatnot. Why it's using Symantec Endpoint Protection? We considered McAfee antivirus as well. I would like to give Symantec Endpoint Protection three stars.
